Compline

Saint Mark’s provides another form of worship every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. with a service of Compline on Zoom. This is a very casual gathering which almost always includes some easy conversations, catching up with each other, and then inquiring about our friends and families, either before or after we pray. We sometimes chat for a while, but if people need to leave quickly, we do our chatting after—there’s nothing set in stone! Sometimes we’re done in 10-15 minutes, or on occasion 30 minutes! This prayer service started during our COVID lockdown as another way to keep in touch.

We usually follow the order of Compline in the Book of Common Prayer (pg. 127). However, occasionally we use liturgical resources from other Anglican churches, including the Night Prayer liturgy from the Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia. We have anywhere from 2 to 12 participants depending on who happens to join!

Please join us for a lovely shared experience of prayer. As we always say at Saint Mark’s: All are welcome. In fact, after our new priest joined us, a few of his friends from California have been part of our group. We always look forward to welcoming new faces on the screen and eagerly hope you will join us sometime.
