Baptism

Welcoming any and all persons into new life in Christ is one of the great privileges of any Christian community. Baptism is a sacrament wherein we recognize through the outward sign of water the inward grace of God joining us with the ministry of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. As such, it is understood as full initiation into membership in the body of Christ and is best done in the presence of the full congregation. It is open to people of all ages and backgrounds.

During a Baptism service, all in attendance commit and recommit themselves to living out the promises of The Episcopal Church’s Baptismal Covenant. Through these promises, we affirm belief in the triune God and promise to continue in the Christian fellowship, resist evil and repent, proclaim the gospel, serve Christ in all persons, and strive for justice and peace.
